Waldport, Oregon is a TINY town, with a population of less than 2000, but it has some seriously great food options. Here are some of the best rated ones. If you have another favorite that’s worth mentioning, just add it in comments, below.
The China Restaurant is perhaps one of the best restaurants in Waldport. The chef there is named Michael Chen and he has 30 years of experience as a trained Chinese chef from San Francisco to Denver restaurants. House favorites include the Orange Walnut Shrimp, Crab Puffs, and the Garden Vegetables. Amy, the waitress and the chef’s wife, serves everything with energy and humor, and greets you happily each time you return.

The Lazy Dayz Cafe is a one man show run by a man named Brad, and his style of cooking has lots of fans. The beef brisket and ribs are barbecued on side in large outdoor smokers, resulting in tender, delicious meat. They serve everything from ale-battered fish & chips to bbq ribs and beef brisket dinners with homemade coleslaw, beans and fries. There’s also a wide range of hot dogs. Cascade Glacier ice cream scoops and milk shakes, homemade cookies and apple pie complete the meal.

If you enjoy good Mexican cooking, you’ll want to try the Fresco Family Restaurant. The pollo con crema is a favorite of many guests, the carne asada is generous enough to serve two, and the salsa is always fresh. There is always a daily full-meal special, and it’s usually priced at $8 or less.

Hilltop Cafe and Bistro is the top rated restaurant in Waldport, according to Trip Advisor. The Denver omelet and the crab cakes are options favored by many. The salmon, ravioli and risotto dinner (pictured above) is said to be especially good. There are also several excellent gluten free options.

Another place that gets raves from everyone is Pacific Sourdough. Special favorites include the Napoleons, and the Pecan Whiskey Bars, and their Artisan Rye Bread. They’re only open from 10 until 3 on Thursdays and Saturdays, and favorites are known to sell out early, so it’s recommended that you get there before noon if you have something in particular in mind. However, locals swear that everything is wonderful.

If you’re looking for a fast filling American fare, check out Chubby’s Food Cart. (Order online and save 10% on your first order!) Favorites are what you see in the photo: juicy, amazing burgers and crispy french fries, as well as Chicago style hot dogs. The medium basket of fries is enough for a whole family. This is a food truck, so if you don’t score one of the two picnic tables, you may find yourself eating in your car. The Bacon Blue Cheese Burger is especially popular. There’s also an excellent Hawaiian burger, and a fabulous bacon burger (my personal favorite).

Last but certainly not least is Grand Central Pizza. The menu has a broad range of options besides the wonderful pizza, including sandwiches, burgers, fairly extensive salad bar, and the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever eaten: perfectly crunchy on the outside and melt-in-your mouth fabulous on the inside. Oh, and don’t miss the garlic rolls!
